ABS was originally developed on the basis of PS modification. Due to its unique advantages of toughness, rigidity and hardness, its dosage is equivalent to PS, and its application range has far exceeded PS. therefore, ABS has become a plastic variety independent of PS. ABS was divided into engineering plastics in the early stage, but with its rapid development, the output soon approached its parent PS. therefore, ABS has been divided into general plastics since 2000, becoming the fifth largest variety of general plastics.
ABS performance:
General performance: the appearance of ABS is opaque Ivory particles. Its products can be colored into colorful colors and have 90% high gloss. The specific gravity of ABS is 1.05 and the water absorption is low. ABS has good adhesion with other materials and is easy to be printed, coated and plated on the surface. The oxygen index of ABS is 18.2%, which is a flammable polymer. The flame is yellow, with black smoke, scorched but not dripping, and gives off a special cinnamon flavor.
Mechanical properties: ABS has excellent mechanical properties and excellent impact strength. It can be used at very low temperature; Even if ABS products are damaged, it will only be tensile failure rather than impact failure, which is the realism of ABS high toughness. It can be used in ABS bearing with medium speed and good wear resistance under load. The creep resistance of ABS is larger than PSF and PC, but smaller than PA and POM. The bending strength and compressive strength of ABS are poor among plastics. The mechanical properties of ABS are greatly affected by temperature.
Thermal properties: the thermal deformation temperature of ABS is 93 ~ 118 ℃, and the product can be increased by about 10 ℃ after annealing; ABS can still show certain toughness at – 40 ℃. Therefore, ABS can be used in the temperature range of – 40 ~ 100 ℃.
Electrical performance: ABS has good electrical insulation and is hardly affected by temperature, humidity and frequency. It can be used in most environments
Application of ABS:
ABS plastics are mainly used in the following aspects:
Shell material: it is widely used in manufacturing the shell of telephone, mobile phone, TV, washing machine, radio, tape recorder, copier, fax machine, toy, kitchen supplies and other products.
Mechanical accessories: it can be used to manufacture gears, pump impellers, bearings, handles, pipes, pipe fittings, battery slots, electric tool housings, etc.
Auto parts: specific varieties include steering wheel, instrument panel, fan blade, fender, handle, handrail, etc. PC / ABS is often used as the framework of the instrument panel, and the surface is covered with PVC / ABS film. In addition, ABS is widely used in interior decoration, such as glove box, glove box, door sill upper and lower trim and water tank mask.
Other products: all kinds of chemical anti-corrosion pipes, gold-plated products, stationery, toys, thermal insulation and shockproof foamed plastics, imitation wood products, etc.
